Following the split of a group of Sicilian entrepreneurs from the pharmaceutical sector, the company became ‘Società Imbottigliamento BEvande Gassate’, know on the market as Sibeg for short.
Within a short space of time, the company saw a strong expansion across the territory, so much so, that within just 10 years the company already had 3 production plants (Catania, Palermo and Syracuse) and a good 9 warehouses.
By 1976, Sibeg had become a well-established reality. This constant growth caught the attention of some of the most important realities in the sector. One of these was Gruppo Busi (already a Coca-Cola bottling company in the Marche and Romagna regions of Italy), which took over the company.
The dawn of the new millennium also saw important changes to the company’s management team: Maria Cristina Elmi Busi became President of Sibeg, passing the role of CEO on to her son, Luca Busi.
These top-level changes also signposted one of the company’s most prosperous periods. In fact, between 2001 and 2009, Sibeg increased its sales volumes to over 3 million crates, and increased its workforce from 174 to 253 employees, a 38% increase.
Sibeg was the first company in Europe to adopt a fully electric fleet of vehicles, implemented through the Green Mobility Project, an ethical, socially responsible, environmental initiative.
Innovation and strong local roots: Sibeg celebrates an important milestone, looking clearly at the past but even more with a clear vision for the future. «Every anniversary is an opportunity to take stock of the journey so far and to chart new courses».
With a turnover of EUR 184 million, today, the company employs approximately 415 people, manufacturing and delivering soft drinks to over 30.000 sales points across the region every day, equating to a 62% share of the Sicilian soft drinks market.
